[DIY-CNC] Single axis micro controller

I'm building a mini horizontal mill. I need to control a single axis.
It needs to move at a constant speed (400-500 RPM) to a stop point,
reverse fully and wait for part re-load. Now that the Frog is no
longer available, is there another option?
