Yes Chalia ,Gutka all are kind of things causing oral cancer.We educate patients some are reluctant.So what can we do.People are in habit of eating Pan.This Pan is culprit having Chalia,Betel nut,Katha and some white material called chooona which is so sharp that it can cut tongue.

Hi Ayesha Ansari.
Perhaps you should check if he has a problem with the supporting tissues (the periodontium )and the surrounding bone for resorbtion which could cause tooth mobility and pain. If as you have indicated that he has very poor oral hygiene and neglects post operative care ,I think you have done your best, the rest is his responsibility ,there is so much we can do to the patient.

I have pt whose RCT done in Aug 2007.He came last mth in Jan 2008 with hot sensation in lower left 1st molar,the same I did RCT.i Took Xray no problem as no Infection.He is in habit of taking lot of chalia.V poor oral hygiene.As I did percussion it hurts.No problem in adjacent teeth.No crown over it as Patient does not want.As pt came his filling was also out which I did in Aug 2007.Cavity was filled with chalia.I cleaned the cavity n filled it up with cermet.What shoul I do if he has same symptoms?
